In traditional Chinese medicine, there exists a meridian system through the human body and more than 360 acupoints are located at these meridians. Qi, or a stream of energy flows through these meridians and acupoints to support tissue, muscles and organs. When the Qi is obstructed in certain critical points, or acupoints, the function of tissue , muscle and organs will be impaired. Acupuncture is the gentle insertion of very thin needles into one or more of these acupoints. When acupuncture needles are inserted into the acupoints the Qi flow is released and the Qi balance is corrected at organ level to improve your energy and internal processing. Acupuncture treatment does not just involve the insertion of sterile needles. Other modalities frequently used are cupping, moxabustion, scraping, magnets and traditional meridian message. |
